Summer reading is in full swing-have you registered yet? 189 kids can answer yes to that question. If you haven't registered, it's not too late. What is required? Children are asked to read (or be read to) for 8 hours by July 31. Each week, participants can bring in their time log to be signed and post their name on our Wall of Fame and receive a prize. We also do weekly prize drawings.
The new Story Time format is going well. We are having loads of fun. Next week in Story Time, we will be making ice cream, YUM! What is the new format? We tried to make the program more interactive. We are singing fewer songs-but they all relate to the weekly theme. We are incorporating musical instruments too. There is a new puppet, Sprite, who shares a poem, and activities, like making ice cream. We hope you will stop in for a Story Time this summer. The times are still the same: Monday at 7:00 PM, Tuesday at 10:00 AM, Wednesday at 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM. We also offer our Mother Goose on the Loose for Toddler Time on Friday at 10:30 AM.
Don't forget that Kids Fun Day @ Centre Market is every Thursday at 11:00. We read a story or two then there are games and crafts.
On Friday, June 12, we will be having a Family Movie Day. We will show "The Tale of Despereaux". It has become my favorite new kids movie. If you haven't seen it, I encourage you to check it out. We will have popcorn and Kool-Aid (sugar free!).
On Monday at 6:00 we will be having our "Naked Mole Rat Gets Dressed" program. This is a book by my favorite children's author, Mo Willems. We will read the book and then everyone can design an outfit for the naked mole rat. To end the program, we will have a Next Top Mole Rat Fashion show! It should be a wonderfully silly program!
On Friday, June 19, we will have our first Puppet Show at 3:00. Our older summer program participants will be designing and creating the set and the puppets and then will put on the play. They will be presenting "Hansel and Gretel".
In other words, come in and "Be Creative" at Our Library this summer!
